After a wonderful night’s rest, we were ready to hit the road! My brother-in-law Ben was able to go in to work late, so we went out to breakfast with him, then off we headed. We spent what felt like an eternity in Iowa, but crossed into South Dakota in the late afternoon, hitting our destination for the night, Sioux Falls, by 5pm. As we checked in to our hotel, I overheard one of the receptionists giving the town overview to another gentleman, and was able to get the in-town low-down, along with a very handy map, for our evening’s excursion.
Gorgeous, right? We weren’t ready for dinner yet, so we cleaned up and headed out to see the falls, which are right in the heart of town. We were shocked by how beautiful it was. It didn’t hurt that it was a gorgeous evening, and we had a wonderful time meandering through the park the falls are in, climbing the overlook tower, and learning about the industrial history off the falls. You should definitely visit if you ever find yourself out that way.
After a few hours of that, it was dinner time, so we moseyed back over to Wiley’s Tavern, where I picked up what could honestly be called a bison burger habit: The one I enjoyed that night would prove to be the first of many on the trip.
